Burgenland runs as a narrow strip down Austria's eastern edge, and its castles sit along it like a string. Burg Forchtenstein is 13 km from Wiener Neustadt, Schloss Esterházy 22 km, Burgruine Landsee (dating from 1158) 28 km. Further south, Burg Schlaining and Schloss Rotenturm are a few kilometers from Eisenzicken, and Burg Güssing, built in 1157, is 25 km from the same village.
Of the 32 castles and palaces RLQuest knows in Burgenland, 22 have a Wikipedia article, so most of the highlights come with some reading. The rest you will have to walk up to and see for yourself. In RLQuest, that walk is a quest: the app checks your route, and the tiles you cross on the way fill in on your map.
Every dot is a place. The numbers mark the highlights listed below.
Ordered by how much has been written about each place. The numbers match the map.

A selection, best known first, with the nearest larger town next to each.
RLQuest knows these places too. Which means:
Some of your daily quests lead to a real place near you. The app uses your location to check you were really there.
If you're the first person in RLQuest to complete a quest at a place, it's your first find. The Place Book shows you which kinds of place you're still missing.
Every walk uncovers tiles, each about 350 m across. Over time you can see which corners you know well, and where you've never set foot.
