New York's lights are not all on the ocean. The Hudson has the Little Red Lighthouse (1921) 2 km from Fort Lee, and Roundout Light, Esopus Meadows Light and Saugerties Lighthouse all reached from Kingston. In the city, Blackwell Island Light is 2 km from Manhattan's center, the Staten Island Range Lighthouse 2 km from Staten Island's. Long Island runs from Execution Rocks Light (1850) to Montauk Point Lighthouse (1796) at the far end.
RLQuest knows 62 named lighthouses in New York, 47 of them with a Wikipedia article, next to 48 forts and 243 waterfalls on the state's other pages. Buffalo Main Light and Bluff Point Lighthouse near Plattsburgh show how far it reaches inland. Each is a quest endpoint in the app: walk there, and the recorded route confirms it while the riverbank tiles fill in.

RLQuest knows these places too. Which means:
Some of your daily quests lead to a real place near you. The app uses your location to check you were really there.
If you're the first person in RLQuest to complete a quest at a place, it's your first find. The Place Book shows you which kinds of place you're still missing.
Every walk uncovers tiles, each about 350 m across. Over time you can see which corners you know well, and where you've never set foot.
