Schloss Marienburg is 9 km from Sarstedt, Burg Calenberg 6 km. Göttingen's Burg Plesse, from 1015, is 7 km out. Bad Bentheim has the Kronenburg and Burg Bentheim in town; Celle, Goslar (Kaiserhaus), Bückeburg, Oldenburg and Osnabrück each have their Schloss in the center too.
