Basel's 25 km circle covers three countries, and the castles follow suit: Burg Rötteln at 11.4 km and the Sausenburg at 665 meters in Germany, the Château de Ferrette at 20.5 km in France, the Burgruine Münchenstein at 6.2 km and the Schlossruine Dorneck at 9.6 km in Switzerland. Augusta Raurica, the Roman town at 11.5 km, heads 72 archaeological sites. The Gempenturm at 10.5 km and the Schleifenbergturm at 603 meters are the classic lookouts.
The bunkers are the odd number: 69 of them, from Ligne Maginot casemates on the French side at 13.5 km to the Feste Istein batteries at the Isteiner Klotz. Thirty-five caves and the Goetheanum at 8.8 km add to it. Crossing a border for a quest is normal here.
Each hexagon covers a little over 5 square kilometers. The brighter it glows, the more places are inside it. The numbers mark the highlights listed below; the dot in the middle is the center of Basel.

RLQuest knows these places too. Which means:
Some of your daily quests lead to a real place near you. The app uses your location to check you were really there.
If you're the first person in RLQuest to complete a quest at a place, it's your first find. The Place Book shows you which kinds of place you're still missing.
Every walk uncovers tiles, each about 350 m across. Over time you can see which corners you know well, and where you've never set foot.
